CLUB ACTIVITIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

 Welcome to the Susque-Nango Kennel Club, located in Binghamton, NY,

a member club of the American Kennel Club!

SNKC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the sport and well being of purebred dogs and responsible dog ownership.

  • We hold one All-Breed Point Show each year, held at General Clinton Park in Bainbridge, NY in June.
  • We hold a weekend of Agility Trials at Chenango Valley State Park in August.
  • We hold two Obedience/Rally Trials, one in conjunction with the All-Breed Point Show in Bainbridge and the other at Broome Community College Ice Center in July.
  • We hold an AKC sanctioned Herding Trial in May each year.
  • We provide training classes for Show Handling, Obedience, Rally,  and Canine Good Citizens.
  • We sponsor scholarships to students planning to attend or attending Veterinary School.

2009 CLASSES

Charitable Contributions - each year we donate proceeds from our shows to worthy causes, both local and national.

  • Support Public Education - providing information on the proper treatment and training of pets and also information for children on approaching strange dogs. Look for our "Meet the Breed" event held in September at Responsible Pet Owners Day.
  • Provide support and guidance to local governments concerning dog related legislation.
  • Provide support to dog related rescue activities - especially in the event of emergencies and natural disasters

MEMBERSHIP

APPLICATION

Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month except January, February, and December at Gander Mtn at 528 Harry L. Drive, Johnson City, NY. Each year our December meeting is the annual Christmas dinner. For the location, check the Club Activities.

General membership meeting begins at 7:30 p. m.

Interested in joining? Need help training your dog? Would you like to learn about competing in AKC events? Come to a meeting!

On July 25, 2010 someone will win this fabulous quilt, measuring 59" square. It is quilted by machine with a dog bone design along the border. The backing is a beautiful dog bone print.

ALL Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets for this quilt will be donated to the Paws for Patriots organization that an umbrella organization comprising 14 veterans groups in the Palmetto, Fla. area. For more information on this group you can visit their website at Southeastern Guide Dogs.

Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and you can print your set HERE and mail them with a check made out to SNKC. We will draw a winner at the end of our Summer Trial in July.

 Rally Cards for sale:

As a fund raiser for the club,we are making a complete set of pocket-sized Rally cards, laminated, with all the signs for the regular and non-regular Rally classes and on the back of each card is printed the rules for that sign.

These make a great gift, and can be personalized if you wish!

Cost: $15 per set, which includes shipping to a US address.

During the summer months, Show Handling classes are held at Otsiningo Park. We will try to start class at 7:15 instead of 7:30. For any one who has not attended our classes at the park before, we will  be on the right hand side of the road,  just before the half-way point of driving around the main circle.

Herding Events - SNKC sponsors indoors herding classes in Windsor in the winter months with Sara Reiter, instructor.  For more information contact Sara Reiter at sarareit@gmail.com
